stunning

these little girlies were absolutely stunning.  and consequently, i have way too many beautiful photos to share.  (they were cousins with a six year age gap, so it was fun to see the dynamic between the two.  :)  i photographed the youngest one a year ago...click here to see how much she's grown!)

the first two are pretty serious considering how many fun images i have, but i loved them anyway...

makes my heart melt.  this is her belly laugh.  her sweet baby double chin.  her squinted eyes.  her pure joy.  i adore her.  so many more to come from her swimsuit-wearing trike-riding days of summer.  :)

So fun...

i had such fun taking photographs of this family a few days ago.  i photographed the youngest one when he was born just over a year ago, and his mommy and i have become friends since then; it was great to have a chance to photograph their family together and capture the energy of these little guys in pictures...aren't they the cutest things?!?

so here is a flashback from last february when this little one first arrived:

and here he is now:

and here's a look back at the big brother last february:

and one of my all-time favorite images.  i adore this.  and i had a lot of fun with the color as you can see :)...

and some more fun ones...(love this first one!!!)

IMG_7881 IMG_7948TT-2 IMG_7979T-2

and the lovebirds themselves...;)...they were so cute together...

well, thank you to them for letting me a small part of their lives!

i'm taking the kids to willy wonka and the chocolate factory play tonight, and sophia is so excited!  my mom and a friend are also going, so it should be fun.....as long as i can keep both my little chatterboxes quiet.  haha.  until next time...

readers

sophia loves to read...even to "her baby".  (notice her favorite book about airplanes is the subject at hand) :)

IMG_7618-2 she keeps telling jackson he needs to crawl and grow...but i just want him to stay little.  :)

yum yum

jackson loves to eat; from sweet potatoes and avocados, to oatmeal and applesauce, the kid enjoys his food.  :)  i had been feeding him in his Bumbo chair for quite a while now as it was so convenient for me, but he is too big and quite precarious in it at this point.  and so, out with the blue seat and in with the high chair.  :)  one more thing to take over space in our itty-bitty house.  *note to family members gearing up for sophia's birthday: please keep this piece of information in mind!  we have no more room.  :)

baby bird

a few weeks ago, my husband pulled our ladder down off the side of our garage and discovered a nest that cradled 4 tiny blue eggs, one of which had a few cracks on it already.  we didn't touch it and he left it down temporarily so we could show sophia.  after she got to peek at them, we went in to eat some lunch and afterward, i decided to go out and get a few pictures of the eggs so kenny could put the ladder back where it was.  and this is what i found...

IMG_7424 the tiniest little baby bird that had hatched merely minutes before this photo was taken.  this was one time i REALLY wished i owned a telephoto lens.

beco love

i'm doing a happy dance over here....i just got my new beco baby carrier in the mail yesterday and am loving it!!  check it out - they're the absolute best carrier i've found yet, and i've tried quite a few of them out.  ;)  (This is a stock photo off their website in the fabric i chose...this is not my image)

*edited to add: for those of you who've asked, this carrier is also amazing as a front carrier - jackson snuggles right in and usually dozes off.  :)   sophia loves to ride on my back as it goes up to 45 pounds, and like i told my sil, i'll probably be able to carry her till she's 10.  :)

still a bad blogger :)

yup, i'm still bad at blogging.  honestly, i've just really been enjoying the warmer weather with my kids and have been having to force myself to sit in front of this thing.  ;)  so i've been tossing around a few ideas for this blog, one being that it becomes just a personal blog of my family and children.  i would still do sneak peeks for clients on my professional website (still working that out) but i would only use this for my own kiddos.  i guess my biggest reason for this is that i'd really like to print this into a book one day and i'm not sure if this is the place for business stuff anymore.  so, just thinking out loud...and boring you all i'm sure.

anyway, here are a few of mr. jackson enjoying the exersaucer...he really loves this thing, especially if his sister is taking part too; her idea of fun is cleaning all the little parts and pieces of this thing with baby wipes.  ;) she has blossomed into a total kid in the past few weeks, complete with bargaining and arguing...the latter is not so entertaining to me, but when she looks at me with this utter look of seriousness and says, "But Mom, I'm just a kid," i usually have to hide my smile.  she actually informed me this morning that "it's hard to tell the truth when you're a little girl" after i asked her why jackson mysteriously started wailing while i wasn't in the room.  ;)

here's my blue-eyed monkey: (as you can see, he is in that completely oral-fixation stage; i rarely get a photo of him without his hands, feet or toys in his mouth)

bad blogger

i've been such a bad blogger lately.  i guess you could say i've been in a cyber-world slump; just keeping up with every day life seems enough in and of itself, and documenting it...all the time...just gets overwhelming sometimes.  i really envy those moms who seem to effortlessly blog, journal, scrap, take photographs (i do okay on that one), and then also play mother, wife, chauffeur, employee, etc.......and they don't even look tired!  well, i wish i could clone myself or something so i could accomplish more.  although, i should probably give myself a break since i haven't slept more than 2 hours at a stretch for several months now.  i am really going to try to do more blogging of our lives though for friends and family.  i take gazzillions of pictures, most of which are never seen, so i need to post more.  :)

so an update on us.  jackson had tubes put in on the 13th and his ears are finally clear!  i'm now just so thankful i don't have to worry about speech delays or hearing impairments, and i finally feel confident about our decision to do them.  but, the downside is that he was still really fussy the week after surgery, and on tuesday i noticed a hard lump in his thigh while i was changing him.  as a mom, your first thoughts are not always rational ones, :) so i called his pediatrician, who wanted to see him right away.  turns out he had a reaction to one of those dreaded injected antibiotics they administered a few days before his surgery as a last ditch effort to get rid of the chronic infection.  he said it could take up to 2 months for it to go away, so we still have a clingy baby who insists on sleeping with yours truly (and if i'm being honest, i'm starting to get a little attached to co-sleeping...bad mommy).  and so it goes.  it's definitely been a rough couple of months, not to mention they both somehow came down with a cold the other day....go figure.  :)

otherwise, he's your typical almost-7-month-old, rolling everywhere, sitting like a champ, loving baby food, babbling and laughing his sweet belly laugh.....finally.  he's also the definition of a mamma's boy, and i'm not going to complain.  :)

sophia is doing so well - my witty, funny little girl.  man that kid has the best little sense of humor of any kid i've been around (although i could certainly be bit biased).  she is her usual funny self these days, saying things like, "Oh my, baby doll!  That's a loooot of poop!" after she changes her for the 6th time in a row.  i keep telling her she might want to adjust her baby's diet!!  ;)  she also is all too familiar with the doctor now, and walks around here with a stethoscope around her neck, gloves on her hands (aka mittens), and nothing but a pair of undies on to complete the look all the while informing me of what procedures she has to do to her baby.  poor baby.  gosh, she cracks me up.

she recently upgraded to a "big girl bed" and below are a few pictures of her in all her morning glory, including bed head, that killer laugh and her sweet little pj's.  i love me some babies in the morning.....

and for whatever reason, i cannot separate these photos without them looking all funky...typepad has changed things and i can't figure out what the problem is!  so here they are all squished.  :)

fun

so i had a session on Sunday, and the only way to describe the photos are delicious.  :)  the kids were fun, had beautiful eyes and hair, and their family was laid back and willing to just do whatever.  i am sorry for not getting this up sooner, but i must admit i have been having way too much fun with these...and have been playing with some new goodies of mine.  ;)  and because i've been having so much fun playing around, they are the lucky recipients of way too many photos to choose from.  lol.

here are a few...(loving the 70's feel on these first two)...

love this one...:)

you know, maybe i will start a "Featured Session" or something to showcase an entire session at some point.  maybe this one.  ;)  and change it out occassionally?  what do you think?

as for our clan, well, we've seen better days.  haha.  jackson STILL has an ear infection, and will be having surgery very soon from what i understand, although we're seeing a specialist on monday, so i'll know more then.  i guess tubes are the only way to go as the bacteria won't respond to any antibiotic, and overusing them isn't the answer either.  needless to say, i've forgotten what sleep feels like!  poor little guy.  anyway, other than that, we're just ready for summer!  i'll post again soon.

friends

these are some friends of ours that i did a session for the other day - and this little sweetie is one of sophie's favorite little playmates.  :)  i haven't looked at many of them just yet, so i may add to this in a day or two, but these jumped out at me.

and this i loved...what do you think...color, vintage or bw???  i couldn't decide...

my sweet boy

i never knew i'd be so proficient at administering antibiotics to an infant!  jackson had another double ear infection 3 weeks ago, and when i took him in it was missed the first time.  so we went back about 5 days later and at that point, he had two of them.  so they gave him a 10-day antibiotic and we finished that yesterday; and today he was frantic, not nursing well and would scream every time i put him down.  and yet, when i'm not trying to feed him or put him down for a nap, he's still the happiest little thing i've ever seen.  and so, i tend to think i'm a crazy mommy at times.  :)

nevertheless, i took him in again tonight and sure enough, he has a chronic ear infection.  we're now on a stronger does of antibiotics, of which i'm told will cause severe diarrhea.  great fun.  bring on the diapers.  poor kiddo.

and because i'm completely sleep deprived after 3 weeks of no sleep, i really haven't taken many pictures (not to mention my laundry is piled high, my email is backlogged and i really need to shave my legs, lol).  but this is a somewhat recent photo....just a few weeks ago.  he's the sweetest little thing i've ever laid eyes on.  :)  this picture is a little busy for me, but i love his sweet little baby arms and those big eyes.  it's one of few photographs without his big, goofy smile.  :)
